creepy

This was what the sky looked like all through out the night. This pic was taken at 3am. Some quick google searching from Gus led me to believe it was freezing fog. Aliens would have been cooler.

:throws snowball:

It was ugly snow today. It was threatened to snow pretty much every day since last weekend. The week passed with nary a flake, and positively balmy. Too bad it didn't last.

This is the farm I live close to. It leaves me feelng uneasy and cold.

This is a crappy picture of my absolute favorite winter image. It's a dilapidated old barn that looks so pretty with a dusting of snow.

This was just a tree. I like the pic for a few reasons. The first is the I snapped randomly while on the drive home and was pleasantly surprised that I framed the tree nicely. Second, I like that it looks like the picture is crying.

And since this is a knitting blog, mittens! They were knit a long time ago with a yarn I can't remember. I like that the pooling looks like oil.

forest path stole

Here is one tiny square that took me hours to comlete.

See the nubs. That is what those damn p5togs create.

the hardest stitch ever

Son of a b*tch, P5tog is impossible. Impossible, I say!

What makes it harder is that I need to ([k1tbl, yo] 2 times, k1tbl) in order to get those 5 stitches. So they have no give whatsoever.

Why do pretty shawls have to be so hard?

snow and socks

I knit this sock for a friend but I never knit the pair. It's made with Trekking XXL

Then I knit this very cute blue sock using Lorna's Laces. I never knit the pair...

I just finished this very pretty purple sock using Trekking XXL. It's one of my favorite socks. Will I actually knit the pair? I don't know....

I'm already eyeing this yarn. It's Cascade Yarns Sassy Stripes.

Oh, and it snowed.

Musings about God

Gus and I discuss God and here is a summary.

We are made in God's image. So we are like God. Then what makes him different? What makes him all powerful? Answer: God has four thumbs.
We declare supremacy over animals because we have opposable thumbs. God declares supremacy over humans because he simply has more thumbs than us. With these thumbs he is able to slip into the fabric of time and space and manipulate it to his will. Think about it.

My favorite scarf and Haiku

Hello lover. My first encounter with Noro Kureyon was with this scarf. I have since fallen in love. I'll put up pics of a few more Noro knits. I hear they are making sock yarn...the world is now a better place.

my nephews

Wow, I can't believe how much thay have grown.
This is my godson Ricky. The last pic I had of him was his first school picture. I still have it on my fridge...he looks happy.

This is Dario. Look at those ears, lol. He was but a baby when I left.

This Halloween.

Knitting

Here is the Transformers Hat from craftster. The logos are on each side, then it fully reverses or "transforms" to a plain side that says "more than meets the eye".
Pattern: Transformers Hat by Lori Magnus
Yarn: Filati Sport Superwash. It fit gauge and was superwash. That was the most important part.
Changes: Yarn and colors. Everything else was the same and worked perfectly.

Tucson sunset scarf. The colors are way muted. They are brighter in real life. I love this scarf but it might be to bright to wear everyday. I think I'll save it for those ugly, gray days.

Feathers from the Icarus Shawl. I love this shawl and yarn but I keep running out of yarn. These are the last feathers that have clung on to poor Icarus' wings. If I don't get more yarn I suppose he'll never fly....

Emo's back

The cat is back. He was gone for three days. It was stressful, especially when it started to rain and then SNOW. He came back starving and a little smelly. He also came back with a cat cold. He won't stop sneezing. He's very lethargic and just wants to cuddle. Even when I'm on the computer. Or watching tv. Or reading. Or sleeping...
I'm very happy he's back. :)

Where's Emo?

The cat got out. He's never allowed outside, and for some unknown reason the garage back door was open just a crack. We can't find him, and my stomach hurts. He's not a street smart cat.
The weird things is we found him almost exactly a year ago roaming the streets without a collar. And about a week ago he lost his collar. It was a safety snap one, and we just can't find it. Now he's roaming the streets without a collar again, exactly a year from when we found him. I don't like that. I want him asleep inside like in this picture.

turkeys

The local library overlooks this beautiful open wooded area. I was reading in the warm sunlight when I glanced up and saw this. A gaggle of turkeys. A group of turkeys? A herd? Anyways, I love the beauty of where I live.

Magicats!

The cat is magic and too clever for me sometimes. He was hiding from me because he knew being on the counter would get him a spritz from the spray bottle. Naughty cat. This is where I found him, and he was too cute to punish.

more yarn and fortune cookie mystery

Sorry for more pictures of the same yarn, but this yarn has made me in love with color itself. I am enamored with every bit of it. The orange makes me vibrate, the purple makes me melt, the pink just tickles....the green. Don't get me started on the green. Each color blends into the next like a technicolor sunset.

It's Ironestone Colorchanges in color 232, by the way.

And my fortune last night leaves me perplexed...

I'm having fun taking pics of this. It looks cool.
So pretty and bright.

Weird textured surface.

Monday, October 1, 2007

I knit the Icarus Shawl non stop for a few days before I ran out of yarn. The shawl just eats yarn, but it's so pretty. I started this easy scarf while I wait for more yarn. I bought the yarn on a trip to Tucson. It reminds me of a Tucson sunset which are the best I've ever seen. It's an easy seed stitch which is nice after days of tiny shawl knitting. I like the texture the stitch gives it. It's kinda alien looking sometimes. The pictures are not great (taken inside at 1am in front of my computer).

Rolled up so you can see the color changes. I love when people take pictures of scarves like this.

Kinda piled up. The colors are not so bright in real life.

The ball started to look really cool as I used it up.

Kinda like a ufo!

Icarus shawl in progress

I had started to knit my birthday yarn but realized about half way through that the purse was god aweful ugly. Actually I realized it early on but I was having a case of knitting denial. I was halfway finished when I just ripped it all back. I started knitting this Icarus shawl instead. I love it. The mohair gives it a nice halo effect while the silk gives it a nice sheen. The lace is easy to memorize right now. It's pretty. :D

Emo catz likes bagz

So cute! I heard some strange noises and thought the cat was getting into trouble. But he was just being cute. Silly me.

Haikus and produce

So I've learned some things about myself....I have an unhealthy obsession with taking pictures of produce and I love Haikus.

Fajita mix. Not the best picture because the light has been weird today but there is something that I still like about it.

And Haikus written last night.

sit still and behave
my heart always does things wrong
beats at the wrong time

A year older but none the wiser

My birthday loot!

My birthday dinner, chicken enchiliadas. It was very good.

My birthday Sangria. I've had better Sangria from the local liquor store.

My birthday tart! This is delicious (i'm eating it now). It has a nice subtle sweetness, the crust is almondy and crumbly. Best birthday tart ever.

My birthday yarn. This was a gift from Jeremy. It's recycled silk made from Indian saris. I have coveted this yarn for a very long time. I'm enamored with the jewel tones and the random soft fluffs.

Fluff.
It was a very nice birthday, but I missed Jeremy. We're supposed to grow old together, not apart.

Emo Catz

My Emo cat. He is a sweet thing. His favorite things include cuddling, wet food, stalking hermit crabs, and biting toes. I love him.

Photobooth teens

A photobooth picture requested by Mike. God, we were weird. This is Joe, mike, and I. I was probably 15 years old. It makes me smile.

A baby pic for Mike. This is my cousin (I forgot her name. sad), my cousin Crystal, me crying my eyes out, and my brother Robert.
